Carpet of poppies at the Tower of London for May 8th commemorations
The installation will be unveiled to the public on May 8, the date marking the surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces in 1945. "This is the last major anniversary of (the end of) the Second World War for which veterans will be able to be with us and give us their testimonies," Rhiannon Goddard, one of those in charge of the project, tells AFP, while volunteers are busy assembling and planting the ceramic flowers.
