The dollar crushes the pound in the face of new information on tariffs
The dollar is accelerating its rise on Wednesday, particularly against the pound, as the market reacts to reports from CNN that President-elect Donald Trump is considering declaring a national economic state of emergency in order to implement his policy of increasing tariffs.
Vers 12H45 GMT (13H45 à Paris), le dollar bondissait de 1,02% par rapport à la livre, à 1,2342 dollar pour une livre, après que la devise britannique a atteint un plus bas depuis avril 2024 face au billet vert, à 1,2321 dollar.
La devise américaine prenait également 0,50% face à l'euro, à 1,0288 dollar pour un euro.
Selon un article de CNN paru mercredi, s'appuyant sur "quatre sources proches du dossier", le président élu Donald Trump envisage de déclarer l'état d'urgence économique national pour "justifier légalement une large gamme de tarifs universels sur ses alliés et ses adversaires".
